I've had to restrain year 7 pupils twice this half term, and I don't like having to do it as it involves so much paperwork afterwards and I feel it places me in a vulnerable position. One of the children I restrained claimed that I'd hurt him. Luckily I had an adult witness who was able to vouch that it was actually me that had been hurt! I ended up on the floor!
I feel loathe to restrain again, but if another child is being attacked, what are my options? As an aside, it did make me laugh that it's referred to as "positive handling" now.
